Well, I did it.
I made my own MacKenzie-Childs lampshade.
As I said earlier this week, while touring the farmhouse at MacKenzie-Childs in Aurora, NY, I spied some lovely lampshades. Unfortunately, they are not for sale and I was told they were made specially for the farmhouse.
When I want something, I GET IT! A challenge!!
So, with a little bit of tissue paper from the MacKenzie-Childs store and a new lampshade ($1.99), I made my own:
And then I ran to the Dollar Tree to buy a clear glass plate and also adhered some tissue paper to that:
And they coordinate so well with my new clock: and remember the bowl?
My motto: If you can't buy it, make it!

Patti,
ReplyDeleteHeck, I'm surprised that you didn't go ahead and make the clock, too! LOL! Ya have the talent. You will have to do a tutorial on the process, especially the plate. I have some clear plates from an auction and I can't decide what I want to do. Of course, working with tissue paper involves four hands! :)
Living it up at Lakewood,
Cindy
Great job on your lamp shade and plate...I like your determination to create it yourself...and I love the pattern on the tissue paper.
ReplyDeleteSeeing your post just reminded me to e-mail you...I would love to see pictures of the snowmen you created!
Jane
Hi Patti...don't know why my e-mail to you was bounced back but it was (I probably typed something wrong)....I'll leave my e-mail here: edwards88@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing the pics of the snowmen.
Jane
So cute! I like that everything matches :) Also, I have not yet tried the gummies recipe with juice instead, but it's worth a try! The sugar in the juice will probably give it a sweeter taste, but hopefully not make them too sticky :) Also, you can definitely cut the recipe in half. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteNice work by you! MacKenzie-Childs actually has an old yacht docked in Hoboken that they live on (!!). I've been in...it's pretty cool. I think you would love it!
ReplyDeleteNeat! These would go with my table this week!!
ReplyDeleteYou are very clever, gal!
I'm impressed! Great job, Patti!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Happy your pumpkins turned out so cute, I think I am gonna copy martha and make one that you use a large drill bit and drill holes all over it like polka dots and then put a light in it..wow I 'm on a roll...lol
ReplyDeleteLove that you took a designer element and made it on your own--I have got to learn to use modge podge, I see so many cute projects with it!
ReplyDeleteLove it. And i Love Mackenzie Childs so much...
